F.E.W. Praal MA, PhD researcher at Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society
Fleur Praal

Fleur Praal is a PhD researcher and lecturer [NL: 'docentpromovendus'] at LUCAS. She teaches in the MA programme of Book & Digital Media Studies, as well as in the BA electives 'Book, booktrade and publishing' and 'Science and technology in society' (the latter at the Faculty of Social Sciences). Her dissertation combines methodologies from publishing studies, cultural analysis, and the sociology of science to construct a new perspective on the changing role of the publisher in the current digital age, and especially in the Humanities. For the Leiden Arts in Society Blog, she writes on all things books and publishing, sometimes from her own experience as a fantasy-enthusiast, but mostly based on 'field observations' of scholarly authors in their natural habitat.
